Santos T-shirt fundraiser

The story of Santos is one that is deeply rooted into the history of the city of Dallas.

Santos Rodriguez was a young chicano boy that lived in the neighborhood of “little Mexico” in Dallas,Texas. On the morning of July 24, 1973, 12 year old Santos would be killed by 30-year-old Dallas Police Officer Darrell Lee Cain following a burglary investigation.

Cain arrived at Santos grandfathers house based on Cains partners claims that the suspect that fled the burglary scene looked like one of the Rodriguez boys. Upon arrival to the house, both the boys, Santos and David, were handcuff and driven to the gas station to be interrogated. Both the brothers denied any involvement in the burglary, but officer Cain while engaging in a game of Russian roullete shot 12 year old Santos in the head.

Santos death sent the city of Dallas into an uproar. The chicano community demanded answers. Darrell Cain would subsequently be charged with murder and sentenced to 5 years in prison.

50 years later, Santos legacy remains alive, having inspired change not only within the city of Dallas but across the country.

Sadly his dear mother Bessie passed away on November 30th of last year, leaving an even deeper sorrow within the family, especially Santos brother David.

Please join us in continuing to support Santos family by ordering one of these shirts. Donations from these shirts will go directly to help David Rodriguez and his wife Daphne with rental assistance, groceries, and medical expenses as they have both been in and out of the hospital.

The shirts will be in Preorder over the course of the next week.

Our goal is to print 100 t-shirts which will cover rent for the next 2 months as well as provide funds for a case worker to assist with various application processes.

These T-shirts will be delivered within the next 2 weeks depending on how quickly we reach our goal.

After providing your information you will receive an email with following steps. For orders outside of Dallas, we will mail your order to you at your expense.

The T-shirts have a suggested donation of $30, only people with a confirmation email will be delivered a T-shirt.
